You need to know what you owe on your property, and you need to know what your budget is in relation to what you’re trying to achieve. Knowing your financials will help you to break down the process into knowing how you are currently standing versus how much it’s going to cost you to sell. Just knowing how much you still owe on the house will greatly improve early discussions with your agent. Have financial statements on hand for you and your agent so that you can sit down together and go through the numbers.
When do you need to go? Where you’re going? Do you want to do it soon? Do you have some time before you need to move? Are you moving to be closer to a child, or for health issues with a family member, and do you need to get there quickly? Talk to your agent about your timeline so that they can see what they can do to help make sure your house is completely prepared in the time that it needs to be.
